Not all paper is made the same!
In the Australian print industry, the acronym “gsm“, which stands for “grams per square meter”, is used as a measure of paper thickness and quality. Generally speaking, the higher the gsm, the heavier and thicker the paper. As a guide:
The weight of most household printer paper.
The weight of most low cost promotional flyers that you may receive in your letterbox as mail outs or “junk mail”.
The weight of premium promotional flyers and most magazine and booklet covers. This paper thickness is approaching card stock but still has a bit of flex in it.
This paper weight is classified as card stock. Premium business cards and high quality invitations are printed on this paper thickness.
Here at Alannah Rose, we only offer premium paper and card stocks that have been rigorously tested in our printers to ensure compatibility and professional print quality. As you would suspect, the paper and card stock options are endless, however, to limit confusion and streamline our ordering process, we have limited our card options to the most popular premium card stocks that each have their own unique qualities.
